Cursor's status page separates the IDE from Cloud Agents, Bugbot, the CLI and the website. Back reads IDE and cursor.com, the two that decide whether editing works. A Cloud Agents incident leaves the editor usable, so Back does not treat it as an outage.
Cursor sits in the middle of an edit, so an outage interrupts work already in progress. You do not need to be told it broke. You need to be told it is fixed.
When Cursor goes down, the ring in your menu bar turns red and Back tightens its checks to every 20 seconds. When it recovers you get one notification. “Cursor is back. You can continue working.” Nothing else. Outage alerts are off by default, so the message you get is the one you were waiting for.
