Google Workspace status dashboard
Google does not publish a status page for Gemini. It reports through the Workspace status dashboard as incident records rather than component states. Back reads that dashboard and looks for an open incident naming Gemini. This is a different mechanism from every other service Back watches.
Google tends to confirm an incident after users notice it, so Back's picture of Gemini is only as current as Google's own reporting. It says so rather than implying more precision than exists.
When Gemini goes down, the ring in your menu bar turns red and Back tightens its checks to every 20 seconds. When it recovers you get one notification. “Gemini is back. You can continue working.” Nothing else. Outage alerts are off by default, so the message you get is the one you were waiting for.
